Three photograms using cast nets render life-size figures laid out in poses ranging from surrender to empowerment. The monochromatic contrast and the recognizable gestures signaling stereotypical arrest and iconic protest convey a stark black-and-white reality, but the textures of the silhouettes also explore a more ephemeral dimension of being, suggestive as much of transparency as enclosure, and poised between the neutrality of cellular representation and the numinous energy of ghostlike apparition.
